However, as the name implies, eco fashion is just fashion product recycling process, and simply recycle is not enough. It takes a complete solution because we could not not buy a new product.
Thus, there is so-called organic fashion. I am sure both member and regular reader Fasity, must have been very aware with eco or organic fashion. We have been regularly discussed with quite intense and profound. Ranging from what is eco and organic fashion, up to how expedient we can do is gradually to realize the eco and organic fashion.
Some time ago, while visiting the exhibition of SMEs, I was quite impressed, seeing that our craftsmen in Klaten have managed to make organic fabric for batik, who made of teak fiber. Even say they’re trying to make the fiber fruit – fruit. And not just stop there, they even use materials – natural materials such as turmeric, pandan, flower petals, etc as natural coloring. Really great!
Batik is produced, the color is very distinctive. Not too bright but not too faded. Color – the color tends to come down to earth and cool. Looks unique and different than other batik. Some people might see it as thick or faded colors, such as color – the color of t-shirts in the OP, but for me, the color – the color is actually very unique and rare that we can get from other batik colors.
This is certainly very encouraging, because if identity can be processed in such a way, of course we can try with different kinds of other fibers. Besides, usually when talking about the organic fashion, who first appeared in the head is a matter of price. Usually the price is quite high compared with similar products who non-organic. But batik – batik, the price is only Rp 200,000 per square meter onto it. Just imagine!
But surely all this must be considered in order to remain consistent with the goals of organic fashion itself. However teak including tree species which grows long enough, and therefore illegal if carried out abroad – random to get their organic fibers, certainly would have violated the original purpose was. Therefore the most ideal is still carried out surveillance and tried with various other plant fibers, which when it grows faster, such as bamboo. But whatever it is, this is a step worthy of support and success.
When I talked to the guard booth, she was immediately excited when I discovered that my profession is one of the designers. And I just amazed – amazed at them, because those who do not have a background in design, in fact have the ability to explore and produce new forms of basic material, which should be one of the designers like homework to me.
It makes me more convinced that we must work together and support each other, from various sides, upstream to downstream. Both in terms of industries such as fashion design, craft, textile factories, craftsmen, home industry, etc.. Must all help each other and move forward together – the same. For the sake of the world and fashion world who is better.
